The Nadam Fair is a folk festival celebrated by the Mongolian ethnic group. Mongolian monarch Genghis Khan is said to have held “Nadam” regularly to keep his soldiers fit and happy. For the Mongolian people, the Nadam Fair is ancient, sacred, grand and full of festivities. Today it has become a large-scale gathering including sacrificial rites, celebrations, athletic sports, entertainment and trade. Agricultural products, by-products, native products and animal products from different prefectures are exchanged at the fair.
